STEFANO BRASCHI Artistic Director, Teatro Elsinor, Italy

She was perhaps not even 1.4 m high, and whilst sitting at the teachers’ desk she disappeared behind the register. Nor was her voice melodious, yet when our teacher Mrs. Armuzzi read Catullus and Sappho and Alkai?os even our teenagers’ student spirit was won over by her loving passion. She did not just read, she interpreted, identifying with what she was reading to such an extent that she was transfigured, her unpleasant features were transformed and made her perfectly persuasive in the dialogue between the lover and the beloved.
Yes, I think my passion for the theatre was born there. Thank you, Milena.
