Paperclip Belt I Premiere

Estonian Playwright Marion Jõepera made an adaption of a novel written by the young Estonian author Mare Sabolotny.

In 2006, the Paperclip Belt (“Kirjaklambritest vöö”) was awarded the second place at the youth novel contest organized by the Estonian Children’s Literature Centre and the publishing house Tänapäev. It is an insight into the thoughts and activities of today’s young people. The main character, Kati, seems to be a usual rebelling teenager. The author has said in an interview: “I made a paperclip chain once and fingered it until it broke. Then I associated it with the personality of the main character, Kati. It is also made of small bits and seems to be strong, but still can fall into pieces very easily.”
